Restore.tv Season 1 – Episode 23: “Remembering My Parents”

“Preserve your memories. Keep them well. What you forget you can never retell.” Louisa May Alcott

Cecil Yates brought us some great photos of his mom and dad that had deteriorated over the years and were in need of some restoration. We started with a wonderful portrait of Cecil’s mother Eva Jane Lowder who was born in 1918 in Idaho. Cecil remembers his mom being a trickster and said that even though she had heart problems that she always was upbeat with a smile on her face. Eva was one of the first patients in Utah to receive Open Heart Surgery and of the 4 that were operated on at the hospital she was the only one who survived. The next photo we worked on was a picture of Cecil and his father Edward that was taken in either the late 60’s or early 70’s. Cecil recalled that his father had stopped by Cecil’s business that was close to the University Mall in Orem, Utah and convinced Cecil to go get their picture taken together. Although Cecil didn’t want to at the time in hindsight he is very grateful to have a picture of him and his father together.
