Restore.tv Season 1 – Episode 12: “From Generation to Generation”

“If you don’t know history, you’re a leaf that doesn’t know it’s part of a tree.”

Clyde Wixom brought us some amazing family photos that spanned from the early 1800’s in England to photos of his current generation that include a beautiful picture of his wife and his twin children. We started with a wonderful portrait of Clyde and his late wife Bennetta that was taken in the 1970’s when their oldest daughter was married. Clyde wanted this photograph restored and extra prints made to give to his children. The next photo we worked on was a picture of Clyde and Coleen that were not only the babies of the family but also twins. Coleen even brought in the red vest she was wearing in the photo so we could color match it perfectly! We also worked on restoring a portrait of Henry Booth Walters who was born in 1827 in England. Clyde was able to recount the history of Henry’s conversion to the Mormon church, his family’s struggle as they made their way to the U.S. and their final settling in Utah. Clyde also brought photos of his son-in-law’s grandparents that were from Mexico who immigrated from Spain after being forced to leave their Jewish faith and convert to Catholicism.
