Restore.tv Season 1 – Episode 13: “When My Mother was Young”

“Preserve your memories, keep them well, what you forget you can never retell.” Louisa May Alcott

In this Restore.tv episode Christena Allmen stops by with two beautiful photographs of her mother that are in need of restoration. The first photo of her mother Naida, who was born in 1927 in Wales, shows an adorable baby sitting sweetly in a high chair. Christena wanted the photo that her mother cut out as a young child to be restored with a background and scratches fixed. The other photo of Naida was taken when she was 18 for her Passport. It also needed scratches removed, and the passport stamp removed. Christena explains that this was a challenging time for her mother and the nation of Wales as World War II was going on. Naida worked in an ammunition factory which is where she met U.S. Service Man, Ralph Hunt. After falling in love and getting permission from the military to marry the soon started a family with Christena being the oldest! When the war ended Ralph went back to Blanding, Utah to prepare a home for his young wife and child. It was such a pleasure hearing stories of Christena’s upbringing and memories of her mom. Christen loved the restoration of the baby and passport photos and plans to put them in a book she is creating of her family history to give to her family in Wales, her children, and her sisters! We think everyone will love the book and beautiful history of their family.
